BLYTHEWOOD — The Richland County Recreation Commission (RCRC) and the Blythewood Youth Baseball Softball League (BYBSL) are teaming up to host a summer Wiffle ball tournament at Blythewood Park on Saturday, Aug. 22.
The event, which begins at 9 a.m., is designed to bring a competitive “backyard” feel to the park. The tournament is open to three age divisions: 8U, 10U, and 12U. Each division is capped at six teams.
Teams must consist of five players, with an entry fee of $75 per team ($15 per player).
Each team is guaranteed at least three games for every participant. The format includes two initial pool-play games, after which teams will advance to either Gold or Silver bracket play based on their performance.
To keep the action moving, the tournament will follow American Wiffle Association (AWA) rules. These include three-inning games and a scoring cap of six runs per inning.
Because slots are limited to 18 teams total across all divisions, local families are encouraged to register early to secure a spot and compete for tournament bragging rights.
For more information or to register a team, residents can visit the RCRC website or contact the BYBSL.
