Johnson celebrates 50 years of Clemson Women’s Basketball

CLEMSON – Fairfield County native Jena (Barnett) Johnson, pictured second from left, joined teammates Louise Greenwood-Dent, left, Karen Jenkins Gray, and Cheryl Nix in Clemson last week to celebrate 50 years of Clemson women’s basketball.

Johnson was a member of the 1988 team that made an NCAA tournament appearance – the first Clemson team since 1982. She played for Coach Annie Tribble and Coach Jim Davis. 

Prior to her stint as a Clemson athlete, Johnson was a member of the Richard Winn Academy’s basketball program from 1980-1985. She was selected as All Conference for four years and Player of the Year for three years. During her high school career she scored 2,300 points and was named as an Honorable Mention All American.
