FAIRFIELD COUNTY – According to Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill, the county’s fire services was dispatched to Cool Branch Rd. in the Carlisle area around noon Wednesday, Feb. 26 for a structure fire in which they were told one individual was unaccounted for.
Once on the scene, firefighters extinguished the fire and found the missing individual, Richard Morrison, 77, who was deceased.
According to Hill, firefighters notified the Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office. SLED was also called in to help with the investigation.
An autopsy has been scheduled with Newberry Pathology to determine the cause of death. Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, SLED and the sheriff’s department will continue the investigation.
