BLYTHEWOOD – Scout Motors will host a series of Community Connection forums in Blythewood this week, giving local residents from across the Midlands another opportunity to engage with the Scout team and see the company’s groundbreaking concept vehicles in-person.
The meetings will be held at Doko Manor on Wednesday from 6-7 p.m., Friday from 12-1 p.m. and Saturday from 11-12 p.m. to give as many people as possible a chance to attend. All of the meetings will be open to the general public, with no preregistration required.
For the Friday and Saturday events only, the Scout® TravelerTM SUV and Scout® TerraTM truck concept vehicles will be parked outside Doko Manor for the public to get an up-close look.
This marks the second time the vehicles have appeared in South Carolina since they were officially unveiled last year. Scout Motors previously brought them to South Carolina in November for a University of South Carolina Gamecocks football game, where they were displayed to the public outside Williams-Brice Stadium and on the field at halftime.
Local executives from the Scout Motors team will provide an overview of the company’s progress, including updates on the nearby Production Center construction site. Then, representatives from various departments in the company’s growing South Carolina office — including Workforce Development, Procurement, Construction, Production, Environment & Security, Product, and Community Engagement — will be on hand to meet and greet the community. Some of the company’s government agency partners that are involved in supplemental project support, like surrounding infrastructure improvements, will also be in attendance to answer questions.
These Community Connections are the latest in a string of open meetings Scout Motors has held with local residents in Blythewood since the company announced its plans to build its Production Center in South Carolina in March 2023, underscoring the company’s commitment to engaging directly with the community.
Blythewood residents got their first look at a 3D model of the planned Production Center in a series of meetings at Doko Manor in September 2023. Then, Scout Motors executives held another community engagement session following the company’s groundbreaking ceremony on the Production Center construction site in February 2024.
Scout Motors is investing more than $2 billion in South Carolina to launch its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which will create more than 4,000 jobs in the state and produce up to 200,000 vehicles per year at peak capacity. Initial production is targeted to begin in 2027.
