BLYTHEWOOD – The Westwood and Blythewood football teams wrapped up the regular season Nov. 1 and after an open date last week, prepare to take on first round opponents in the Class 5A playoffs.
Blythewood fell 21-7 to second place Ridge View (6-4, 5-1) in their Region 5-5A finale, and finished 6-4 overall and 2-3 in region play, good for fifth place in the seven-team region. The Bengals will compete in the 5A Division 1 bracket and will travel to Clover. The Blue Eagles (7-3, 4-2 Region 3-5A), beat Catawba Ridge 34-21 Nov. 1.

Westwood (5-5, 3-3) fell 65-28 to region champion Sumter (10-0, 6-0) Nov. 1. The Redhawks, who finished 1-9 last year, will compete in the 5A Division 2 bracket and will host a playoff game for the first time since 2022. Region 6 opponent Socastee (4-6), which fell 35-23 to Myrtle Beach last week, comes to Westwood’s District Two Stadium Friday.
Friday will be the first meeting between the two teams.
