Griffins, Mavs, Eagles run in Winnsboro

WINNSBORO – Fairfield Central and Midlands STEM Charter were among schools who competed at Richard Winn’s cross country meet on Monday in Winnsboro.

The Griffin boys finished the meet in second place behind Camden Military. Richard Winn finished third and Midlands STEM finished fifth. 

Fairfield Central junior Sidney Wilson was the highest boys’ finisher on the day out of the three local schools. He finished in fifth place overall at 21:03.90. Jesus Vazquez followed on Wilson’s heals in seventh place at 21:35.70. Krishi Patel (23:34.80) and Zavier Barbosa-Gomez (23.37.10) finished 12th and 13th places. Jamari Johnson rounded out the Griffins’ score in 19th place at 24:05.90.

Senior Colin Davis led the Eagle runners. Davis finished in 11th place overall at 23:26.50. Colton Tanktrsley placed 15th at 23:44.20. Carson Taylor and Liam Fleischer finished in 24th and 25th places at 24:39.2 and 24:49.1. Michael Sanders finished at 25:22.20 to complete the Eagles’ score.

The Mavericks were led by Christopher Parker and Tristan Ersek, who finished in 14th and 16th overall at 23:38.70 and 23:44.20. Demond Wilson followed at 25:14 for 26th place. Robert Pierce and Jake Younts clocked in at 30:25.10 and 33:07.40.

The Eagle girls took first place out of three teams competing.

Richard Winn’s Hayden Branham took first place out of 27 runners competing with a 21:34.20 finish. Ada Bass followed in third place at 24:11.70, and Lillian Trapp finished at 25:33.00 in fourth place. Harper Branham and Addison Trapp completed the Eagles’ score. Branham finished 11th at 27:53.20 and Trapp finished in 14th at 29:26.90.

Midlands STEM’s solo female runner, Kai Thompson, finished at 38:57.30 for 25th place. Fairfield Central did not have any female runners.
