BLYTHEWOOD – Blythewood High School Orchestra Director Julie Russell, center with sign, is one of five finalists for Richland District Two’s Teacher of the Year for 2024-2025.
BHS principal Matt Sherman, right, joined R2 Superintendent Dr. Kim Moore and officials from Richland Two to surprise Russell with the news during class on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
“Clear reflection of your teaching and all you’ve accomplished here,” Sherman said to Russell during the presentation.
“Congratulations, Julie Russell!” Dr. Moore tweeted. “Your dedication and talent continue to shine bright, and being named a finalist… and receiving the “40 Under 40″ Music Educator Award (by Yamaha Music) is a testament to your excellence. So proud of you!”
