BLYTHEWOOD – The Bengals’ cross country team won a four-team meet at BHS Oct. 9, recording a score of 25 points to defeat Dutch Fork (34 points), Irmo (79 points) and Fairfield Central (120 points).
The boys were led by senior Mike Lantz, who finished first overall in a time of 16 minutes and 8 seconds. Other top finishers included Hunter Jarvis (4th in 17:38), TJ Kirby (5th, 17:37), James Palmer (7th, 17:39) and Brandon Hardwick (8th, 17:47).
Saturday, the Bengals finished second out of 24 teams at the Lexington Invitational. The performance included finishing in front of four-time defending state champion and current #2 team in the state Lexington.
The boys were again led by Lantz, who finished second overall in a time of 15 minutes and 54 seconds. Other top performers were Jarvis (21st in 17:03), Kirby (22nd in 17:03), Hardwick (27th in 17:19) and Jalen Brown (49th in 17:48).
The JV Bengals finished 10th overall and were led by Evan Delvaux who finished 10th overall in 18:34. The team will return to action on Oct. 25 at the Region Championship.
