BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood baseball team fell 6-5 at Fort Mill March 15, but beat the Yellow Jackets 8-5 Friday. The Bengals opened its 3-game series with Nation Ford falling to the Falcons 7-5 Monday.
On March 15 at Fort Mill, the Yellow Jackets held a 6-4 lead and stopped a seventh-inning Blythewood rally for the win.
Camden Watts led off the seventh with a single. With Eli Marsha running for Watts, John Rollings flied out but Macon Leppert’s fielder’s choice enabled Marsha to move to second base. Leppert was safe at first.
Harrison Collins’ single scored Marsha and moved Leppert to third, but Ryan Watts struck out and Xavier Cuevas grounded out to end the game.
Collins, Alex Myers, and Carson Weathers each had two hits. Weathers doubled.
The Bengals closed out the Fort Mill series with its second win over the Yellow Jackets Friday. Blythewood jumped out to a 6-1 lead after scoring three runs in the first inning and three more in the second. A 2-run fifth inning for the Bengals staved off a 3-run Fort mill rally in the top of that inning.
Camden Watts had three hits and two RBI. Leppert had two hits, including a double. Luke Duncan also doubled. Myers and Livingston Weisenger had two hits.
On Monday night at Nation Ford, Blythewood went up 4-1 with a 4-run second inning, but the Falcons scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning to keep control. Nation Ford picked up another run in the fifth inning.
Again, Blythewood sparked a rally in the top of the seventh. Weathers reached on a 1-out error and Camden Watts singled to put runners at first and second. Rollings singled in Weathers to make it 7-5 Falcons, and Watts moved to second, but Leppert popped out and Collins struck out to end the game.
Blythewood (5-4) played host to Nation Ford Wednesday and travels Friday to close out the series with the Falcons.
