CHESTER – The Richard Winn Academy Lady Eagles took their four-game win streak on the road Monday and into Chester County to face the Chester High School Lady Cyclones on Monday, making the return trip home with victory number five under their belts.
The Lady Eagles, led by the strong hitting and blocking skills of sophomore Jaycie Johnson (nine kills, three blocks), took the match in three straight games of identical score results, 25-11, 25-11, 25-11. Other Lady Eagles contributing to the road victory were Emily Brigman with three kills and a block; Carson Justice with two aces, a block and a kill; Alyssa Atkerson added an ace and a kill; Marion Walker Coleman had one ace; and Megan Simpson had two saves.
The Lady Eagles took their first loss of the season Tuesday against region opponent Spartanburg Day, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-19). Now 5-1, the Lady Eagles host Heathwood Hall Sept. 17 at 5:30 p.m. The JV Lady Eagles start the afternoon off at 4:15.
