WINNSBORO – The fall sports teams – football, tennis, volleyball, and cheer – from Fairfield Central High School, Richard Winn Academy and baseball and softball teams from Midlands STEM Institute were introduced to the community on Tuesday in front of the clock during Spirit Fest. After the individual team introductions, they posed for a group photo.
Spirit Fest was followed by the National Night Out parade of more than 30 Fairfield County emergency vehicles.
Of the more than 30 vehicle entries, the MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle was possibly the fiercest. Designed to withstand improvised explosive devices (IED) and ambushes, the vehicle was given to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department through a government program that provides law enforcement equipment from military surplus.
