RIDGEWAY – The Fairfield County Arts Council (FCAC) featured “Friends Hanging Together,” as their First Friday Art Show on Aug. 2. Winnsboro artist Barbara Yongue and Gerard Erley exhibited their work from 5:30 – 8 p.m., and those paintings will remain on display for viewing at 115 S. Palmer St. in Ridgeway until mid-September.
Barbara Yongue, current president of the FCAC, showed her collection titled The Lady, The Lioness, The Knight and The Priest. Yongue has studied under well-known artists such as Daniel Greene, Nelson Shanks, Janet Fish, Tony Ryder and Charlie Hunter. She has recently placed in shows with the Trenholm Art Guild, Pawleys Island Seaside Palette show (2017) and won the People’s Choice award in 2017 at Arts on the Ridge.
Gerard Erley has had over four dozen solo exhibits throughout the United States and has exhibited in over 300 juried shows. He has won over a hundred awards at the regional and national levels. His work has hung in museums and galleries from New York to California and can be found in corporate and private collections both in the United States and abroad. Erley has won Best of Show at the 2017 South Carolina State Fair Professional Exhibition and received multiple grants from the South Carolina Arts Commission.
