WINNSBORO — The Fairfield County Library is launching a new series of community programs titled “Planning for the Future,” designed to help residents navigate complex legal and governmental processes by connecting them directly with local officials.
The series will feature two “Community Conversation” sessions this month at the library in Winnsboro. Both events aim to provide clarity on topics that often seem complicated, ranging from estate law to county taxes.
Aug. 24: Probate with Judge Brad Caulder
The first session will feature Probate Judge Brad Caulder on Monday, Aug. 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This program is specifically designed to demystify the probate process. Judge Caulder will discuss the complexities of wills and estates, offering an informal environment where attendees can learn about their options and get specific questions answered.
The goal of this session is to help patrons feel more confident when navigating legal requirements that can often be overwhelming during difficult times.
Aug. 31: The Auditor’s Office with Anne Bass
The following Monday, Aug. 31, the library will host Fairfield County Auditor Anne Bass from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This session will focus on the role of the Auditor’s Office and the various services it provides to the community.
Residents will have the opportunity to learn how the office’s functions—such as tax assessments and property records—directly impact them. Like the probate session, this program will include a question-and-answer segment to help residents better understand the local resources available to them.
Planning for the Future
According to the library, the “Planning for the Future” series was created to foster “knowledge, community, and connections.” The library plans to continue adding programs to the series in the coming months, featuring different local professionals and community leaders.
“Planning ahead can make a difference for you and the people you love,” the library stated in a social media post announcing the series. “We want to help make sometimes complicated subjects easier to understand.”
Both events are free and open to the public. They will be held at the Fairfield County Library, located at 300 W. Washington St. in Winnsboro. For more information, residents can contact the library at 803-635-4971.
