RIDGEWAY – If you were in Ridgeway on Saturday, June 6, you probably noticed a gentleman running around in a bright red suit (no, not Santa Claus). It was Ridgeway’s Christopher Floyd in a red tuxedo. He and several other actors were in town creating a film to be entered in the South Carolina 48-Hour Film Contest.
According to 48HourFilm.com, to compete in the contest, actors create a seven-minute original film within a 48-hour period of time. For Floyd and friends, that time was Friday through Sunday.
The actors spent some of their 48 hours shooting footage on the Isaac C. Thomas Historical Museum front porch, then came inside to visit and charge batteries.
After drawing their assigned genre and receiving a required character, prop, and line of dialogue, the team of actors has exactly 48 hours to write the script, shoot the footage, and edit the final film. Films must be submitted digitally or physically by the 48-hour deadline.
Completed films will be screened publicly during the SC 48-hour project screening and awards ceremony on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2 p.m., at the Richardson Center for the Arts at Wofford College.
The “Best Film” winning team will advance to the international Filmapalooza festival and compete for cash prizes and a screening at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner, individual acting awards vary depending on the specific host city.
