WINNSBORO — Fairfield County Parks and Recreation is offering a pair of free sports programs this summer for Fairfield County youth.
A free softball training program will kick off on June 29 at Drawdy Park.
Training will be held every Monday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Participants are required to bring their own cleats, softball gloves and water bottles to the park, located at 702 Eighth St. in Winnsboro.
The sessions are designed for players of multiple skill levels, with separate tracks available for rising third through sixth graders and rising seventh through 12th graders.
On the football field, the Making a Difference Foundation will host a free youth football camp later this summer. While the exact date for the Winnsboro-based camp has yet to be announced, organizers say the event will be led by an “elite coaching staff” featuring former college and professional football players.
The football camp will focus on fundamentals, position-specific instruction, and speed and agility drills, as well as mentorship and leadership activities designed to help “young people become people.” Registration for the football camp is free, but spots are limited.
