WINNSBORO – Fairfield County Airport’s annual Wings & Wheels air festival was bigger and better than ever, according to Airport Director Denise Bryant and many of those who attended.
“Attendance was 1,500 this year, about 400 more than last year,” Bryant said.
While cloud interference caused the event’s traditional parachute jump with the American flag to be canceled, Bryant said everything else went off smoothly.
There were 120 antique cars, several small airplanes, and more than 80 folks who paid $45 to take a spin on a Discovery flight high over the airport and around the countyside.
A number of exhibitors, artisans, food vendors, children’s amusements, live music by Ole Skool, skydiving demos, and an assortment of emergency vehicles on display rounded out the annual family-fun day.
“People look forward to the air festival every year,” Bryant said. “And this year’s event didn’t disappoint.”
