Summer is here, so somewhere between cookouts, vacations, weddings, church revivals, fish fries, family reunions, and saying “I’m finna start Monday” every single Monday… we should probably work on ourselves a little too.
So this summer, I’m making a Summer 2026 To-Do List.
Here are a few areas I think we should focus on and I’m using myself as an example.

Physical
I need to get back in shape consistently. Not “I worked out once and now I’m posting motivational quotes” shape. Real shape.
More walking. More dancing. More basketball. So I’ll be spending some time at the Ridgeway Rec Center. I might even play some pickleball this summer. If you take care of the body it will take care of you. And cut out that sugar. It’s the devil.
Mental
I want to read more this summer so I’ll read through some books of the Bible, some children’s books, and I’ll be reading Let Them by Mel Robbins.
Spiritual
I want to spend more intentional time with God. Prayer. Scripture. Quiet time. Listening instead of just talking. Because sometimes life gets so loud we can’t hear wisdom whispering.
I’ll be visiting quite a few different churches this summer so I’m looking forward to being in and building the church with some of you all. Any suggestions on which church I should come visit first? If so just send me a message in Facebook and I’ll come.
Financial
I want to save more money this summer and if I can earn some extra income because gas is high, and I’m tired of having more month than money. It’s hard to do the Lord’s work when you don’t have the resources.
I’m being intentional with budgeting, investing, creating more income streams, and spending with purpose.
Social
I want to reconnect with people. Not just liking posts. Real conversations. Pull up on family. Check on friends. Meet new people. Go outside.
Half of us are one good conversation away from feeling human again.
Emotional
I want to get better at expressing how I actually feel instead of saying “I’m good” like a malfunctioning robot.
Emotional intelligence matters. Especially in relationships, friendships, leadership, and communication.
Nutritional
I’m trying to eat better this summer. More fruits. More vegetables. More water.
Maybe you don’t have your summer body ready but if you start now, your summer body could be ready for next summer.
Political
And finally… political.
I mean paying attention locally. Who’s making decisions? What’s being built? Where’s the money going? What actually affects our communities?
Participation matters. Early voting is taking place. Know what’s at stake and what’s on the ballot, and where and when you to need to be voting.
So here’s my challenge: make your own Summer 2026 To-Do List. One goal in every category: physical, mental, spiritual, financial, social, emotional, nutritional, political.
Post it. Share it. Talk about it.
Because summer shouldn’t just be about escaping life for a few months.
It should also be about becoming a better version of the person who has to live it.
