Letter: Register by June 8 and Vote

June 9 marks a critical day for all of us, locally and nationally – it’s the day we vote in the primaries for S.C. Democratic and Republican candidates.

Early voting extends from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., from May 26 until Friday, June 5.

You will have to declare your party preference when you vote in the primaries.

This can be difficult as some of us prefer to vote for the person, not necessarily the party. In the primary, however, there is no “split voting” as there is in the general election.

It is so very important that all eligible voters participate in the upcoming primary. Someone has said that “all politics are local.”

If you do not vote, you lose your option to complain about local, state, and national politics.

If you are not yet a registered voter but meet the age and other requirements to register, you must register by May 8 for the June 9 primaries.

Please consult the Fairfield County Voter Registration & Elections office for more information (803) 635-6255.

In previous elections and primaries, too many of us fail to exercise our privilege of voting.

So, please vote for the candidates/party of your choice in this important primary.

Remember … “Every vote matters!” “Every vote counts!”
