Blythewood High School seniors Dustin Barrow and Brandon Burris have signed letters of commitment to continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level.
Barrow has committed to Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C., where he will play lacrosse for the Bobcats.
Burris has signed to play baseball for Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, S.C.
Barrow, the son of Chuck and Cathleen Barrow, played for head coach Tony Rakes at Blythewood High School. Barrow, a mid-fielder, was ranked nationally for Face-Offs last season for the Bengals.
Burris, the son of Doug and Freida Burris, was a four-year starter on the baseball team for head coach Barry Mizzell. The outfielder was named to the All-State squad by The High School Sports Report and the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association. He was selected as a member of the South Carolina Select All-Star team that will take on the North Carolina Select team in Myrtle Beach June 15-16. Burris finished his career as a Bengal with more at-bats (337), singles (84), runs scored (121) and stolen bases (82) than any other player in the school’s history.
