COLUMBIA – Fairfield Central boys’ track and field team had a strong finish at the Twilight Invitational at Ridge View High School on April 4.
The class 2A Griffin boys, who competed only in five events, finished in sixth place out of 32 teams with a team score of 29. They finished behind 5A powerhouses Ridge View (1st), Blythewood (3rd), Spartanburg (4th), and West Florence (5th). Cuthbertson High School, a 4A school located in North Carolina, finished second with 59.
Tydarion Grier had the team’s only top finish on the day. Grier took first place in the 100 meter dash at 10.45, just shy of the 10.42 personal-best he set in late March. Grier finished ahead of Ridge View’s Jordyn Best, who took second at 10.60. Jayden Boyd finished fourth at 10.70 place.
The Griffins’ 800 meter sprint medley relay team took second place with a 1:31.64 finish. Just ahead of Fairfield, Cuthbertson took first at 1:31.49.

Christian Hingleton finished seventh in long jump at 6.54m. Hingleton set his PR (7.05m) just a week prior.
