WINNSBORO – After a Wednesday loss to Dreher, the Griffins got back into the win column with a shutout of Eau Claire on Friday.
The Griffins dominated through 4.5 innings to come away with a 10-0 win over the Shamrocks.
Graeme Douglas took the win. He faced 19 batters in five innings, and he struck out 12 of them. He allowed only one hit.
The Griffins put up six in the first inning. Graeme Douglas singled to score one. An error scored two, and a passed ball plated three.
They added two in the second off of a Jamari Favors double to left field. A walk by Kaden Diggs extended the Griffins’ lead to 9-0 in the bottom of the third.
Diggs, Graeme Douglas, Favors, Kamauri Jones, Trey Wilcox, and M Jackson-Nellums each had one hit. The Griffins collected 12 stolen bases in the win.
Fairfield dropped a 4-0 game to a solid 5A River Bluff team Saturday.
River Bluff went up 1-0 in the top of the first. They added two in the fifth and one in the seventh, finishing the shutout 4-0.
Diggs took the loss for the Griffins. He gave up three hits and three runs (one earned) in 5.2 innings of work. He struck out one and walked seven.
Jones led the Griffins at the plate. He went 2-3 with a double. Graeme Douglas also doubled.
The Griffins faced Clinton on Wednesday, but scores were not available prior to The Voice’s press deadline. They will travel to Keenan Thursday and Clinton Friday before a two-game stretch with Richard Winn next Monday and Tuesday (April 14 at FC; April 15 at RW – both games at 6 p.m.
