
Otis Buford Williams, 83, of Winnsboro passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Born in Fairfield County on April 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Carless Haylon Williams and Lillian Idell Abbott Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Maria del Carmen Parrao Williams; children, Carmen Lillian Williams Tefs (Danny), Otis Buford Williams, Jr. (Melissa), and Christopher Allen Williams; grandchildren, Chandlor Justin Williams (Laken), Maya Elena Williams, and James Dobson Lindler; great grandson, Baylor Thomas Williams; cousin, Constance Annette Williams Mason; and many nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Otis is predeceased by his brothers, Jackie Laverne, Robert Alton, Alpod Albert, Winston Franklin, and Marvin Laverne Williams; sisters, Richardene Williams Broom, Jeannette Williams Jordan, and Merle Williams Nease; and one grandson, Kendall Lesher Williams.
Otis, a Vietnam Veteran, retired from the United States Air Force in 1980. After serving his country, Otis joined and retired from the South Carolina State Guard. He served under Governors, Beasley, Campbell, Jr., Sanford, and Hodges.
Otis also enjoyed working and retired from the Fairfield Board of Disabilities and Special Needs where he was simply known by “O.”
Otis loved God, his country, and his family: but his happiest years were spent serving God at his church, Washington Street Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and held various positions. There he was known for his sense of humor, generosity, and love for people. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service praising God and celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 Pm Friday, March 21, 2025, at Washington Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church. A committal service with full military honors will be held following the service in Oaklawn Cemetery.
