
EDGEFIELD – Richard Winn’s three-man team is back on top… for the third time.
The school’s clay target shooting team took to Edgefield over the weekend for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources’ Governor’s Cup Youth Sporting Clay Open, which was scored in conjunction with the South Carolina Independent Schools Association’s (SCISA) State Championship.
Aaron Geddens, Charlie Bonds, and JT Wilkes finished second in the Senior Varsity Division, but claimed the top spot for SCISA teams competing, giving them their third SCISA State Championship in a row – the program’s fourth title in as many years. The squad is coached by Randy Wilkes.
The Eagle team had a total of four 3-man teams finish on the podium. Aside from the Geddens-Bonds-Wilkes title team, the Eagles finished third in the Senior varsity Ladies Division, second in the junior varsity school division, and third in the middle school division.
Emmaleigh McInvaille, Charlotte Lewis,and Abby Lewis made up the team with a third place finish in senior varsity ladies school division.
Dylan Albert, Hoffman Sharpe, and Evan Springer took second in the junior varsity school division.
Monty Sharpe, Hud McLean, and Cooper Rast finished third in the middle school division.
