Bengals, Redhawks compete in Coaches Classic

BLYTHEWOOD – Westwood High School played host for the Region 4 Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic on Saturday, March 22.

Blythewood’s boys and girls team swept the field. The girls claimed first place with a team score of 135.5 out of 20 teams. With a team score of 100, the boys also took first out of 21 teams.

Westwood’s girls came in sixth place with a team score of 45, just behind Ridge View (45.5).  The Redhawk boys finished in eighth place.

Blythewood Girls

Peyton Hightower finished first in 400 meter dash at 54.90. Hayley Hightower placed first in 800 meter run at 2:17.21.

Anna Kelly claimed first in the 3200 meter run at 11:19.41. Mallorie Hogue came in second behind Kelly at 11:31.21.

Khloe Williams took first in long jump at 5.5m. Aubreigh LeSane finished second in high jump at 1.55m.

In the 200 meter dash, Olivia Taylor placed second (24.82), Brittany Benson placed fourth (25.21), and Alexandra Francique placed fifth (25.37).

In the 100 meter dash, Tylar Moore finished third at 12.15, Benson finished fourth at 12.22, and Bramlett finished fifth at 12.29.

Bramlett came in second in 100 meter hurdles at 14.87. Cailyn Dawson finished third in 400 meter dash at 59.49.

In triple jump, Romell Garway took fourth at 10.79m and Khloe Williams took fifth at 10.59m.

Adedoyin Adelere placed fifth in discus at 30.01m.

The girls 4×400 meter relay team took first at 3:56.04.

Blythewood Boys

Jacob Powell took first place and set a new school record in the 1600m run at 4:23.18. Anthony Knight came in third in 1600m at 4:40.49.

The boys’ 4×400 meter relay team claimed first at 3:28.34 and the 4×100 relay team took second at 42.34. The 4×800 meter relay team finished third at 8:59.90.

Jaylan Grant finished second in the 200 meter dash at 21.63. Spencer Shealy took second in the 3200 meter run at 9:39.46, and Eureka Washington came in third at 10:08.31.

Marlon Glover finished fifth in 100m dash at 10.65.

In the 400m dash, Larry Davis finished third (50.43) and Darryl Robinson finished fifth (50.85).

Zaki Bushiri finished fifth in 400m hurdles at 1:02.69.

Justin Simmons finished fourth in triple jump at 12.49m, and Santana Wright finished fourth in discus at 43.19m. Kemuel Little placed fifth in shot put at 13.67m.

Westwood Girls

University of South Carolina commit Emma Ashley finished second in the 1600 meter run at 5:08.52. Rebecca Ashley came in second in pole vault at 2.45m. Alexiuna Williams finished third in discus at 32.8m.

The Redhawk girls’ 4x800m relay team came in third at 10:30.76, and the 4x100m relay team claimed fourth at 51.17.

Westwood Boys

Jayden Wilson finished second in 100 meter dash at 10.48. Bobby Quick came in third in 800 meter run at 2:03.30.

The boys’ 4×400 meter relay team finished in second at 3:28.83, and the 4x100m relay team placed fourth at 43.03.

Both Blythewood and Westwood’s teams were back in action on Wednesday at Blythewood, but scores were not available prior to The Voice’s press deadline.
