BLYTHEWOOD – The Brothers of the Smoke Cigar Club in Blythewood turned their camaraderie into community care this Thanksgiving by presenting turkey baskets to families residing in The Pointe Apartments neighborhood.
The event, a first of its kind for the club, underscores its commitment to uplifting the community and fostering togetherness.
“We’re not just a cigar club,” said the club’s President Kevin Bland. “We’re a brotherhood, and that bond involves giving back to the place we call home. Thanksgiving is about gratitude and sharing, and we wanted to make sure that some of the families in our community could feel that spirit.”
Led by the club’s President Kevin Bland, club members O’Neil Francis, John Edwards, Ben Mathis, Keith Williams, Elwood Gant, and John Walker delivered the turkey baskets, each filled with holiday essentials, ensuring these families could enjoy a hearty Thanksgiving meal. Recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude for the gesture, club member Edwards said.
“It’s acts of kindness like this that remind us we’re not alone. This means so much to my family,” one resident said when a turkey basket was presented to his family.
The BOS Club, known for their fellowship and passion for cigars, said they hope this initiative inspires others in Blythewood to find ways to contribute.
“This is just the beginning,” said club member John Edwards, owner of Blythewood Cigar and Wine. “We plan to make this an annual tradition and explore more ways to give back throughout the year.”
The Pointe neighborhood echoed with appreciation.
“We feel that community, kindness and shared gratitude can bring people closer during the holidays and every day,” Edwards said.
