BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood Historical Society & Museum will host its ninth annual Veterans Day Celebration at the Langford-Nord House, 100 McNulty Street on Saturday, Nov. 9. Exhibits will be on display from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program is from 1 to 2 p.m.
Exhibits will be on display from the SC State Military Museum, Bob Redfern’s Vintage Military Vehicles, Blue Star Mothers’ Table, Purple Heart Town, Big Red Barn, American Heritage Foundation Military vehicles, the Patriot Guard Rider, AMVETS and VFW posts, American Legion Post 90, the Fighting Fourth Living History Groups, miniature Military scenes by Mike Child, patriotic music, a Flag retirement and several food vendors.
The program will begin with a color guard presentation, and Alvin King will be the guest speaker. Commander Tommy Olds will be on stage, and a Quilt of Valor presentation will be made to six veterans. The SC Combat Veterans Group will also be in attendance. The program will also include the Bethel-Hanberry chorus, Blythewood singers, Vance and Jeannie Sharpe, and the recognition of the six branches of the Military in the audience. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department will bring its K-9 unit.
The final piece, “God Bless America” will be sung by Vance and Jeannie Sharpe, the Bethel-Hanberry chorus and the audience.
This free family event will honor our Veterans while showing our patriotism and pride for those serving or have served our Country. This community event is supported by the Town of Blythewood.
