PROSPERITY – Officially perched atop AA Region 3 with a 6-0 record, Fairfield Central left no doubt they own the region with their 45-13 win over Mid-Carolina Friday.

Kaden Diggs and Ford Davis again tag-teamed under center. Davis completed nine of 10 attempted passes for 114 yards, and Diggs completed two of four passes for 49 yards, but Fairfield’s seven touchdowns all came on the ground.

TyDarion Grier found his way into end zone four times. He had 17 carries for 113 yards, accounting for over half of the Griffins’ rushing yards. Diggs, Davis and Keyan Douglas also scored. Diggs had 49 yards on six carries, and Douglas had 8 carries for 46 yards.

Friday’s game was the first time the Griffins have allowed their opponents to score more than once since their Sept. 20 win over Newberry.

Dre Walker and Chancery Turner led with three solo tackles each as the Griffins combined for 78 total tackles. Turner also recovered a fumble. Kingston Peay and Steven Gadsden each had a sack.

The win puts Fairfield at 9-1 on the season (6-0 in region play). They move into SCHSL AA playoffs on Friday as they host Chesterfield for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at E.K. McLendon Stadium. The Griffins will also honor their 2024 track and field state champions during the game.
