Bengals fall to Clover in round 1

CLOVER – The Blythewood football season came to an end Friday night as Clover escaped with a 31-28 victory over the Bengals in the opening round of the 5A Division 1 playoffs.

Blythewood had 389 yards of total offense behind quarterback junior Johnny Collins. Collins passed for 213 yards and three touchdowns and one interception. Ben Hendrix had three catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Carter Coleman had five catches for 76 yards and a score. 

Collins had five carries for 39 yards. Coleman gained 10 yards on 3 carries. 

Kemuel Little had 11 tackles, five for loss and three hurries. He also forced and recovered a Clover fumble for a gain of two yards. Boston College commit Sterling Sanders had four tackles, a sack and a 20-yard interception. Nathanael Bonneau also had a pick with a 20-yard return. 

Blythewood ends its second season under James Martin with a 6-5 record.

Clover (8-3) travels to J.L. Mann (8-2) Friday in the second round.
