FAIRFIELD COUNTY – The Fairfield County EMS Department is holding training sessions Thursday, Sept. 24-26 for a new life saving technology that will be implemented onto Fairfield County ambulances.
Stryker, a healthcare company that produces medical equipment, has just released a new heart related monitor equipped with advanced technology and capability. The LP35 system will replace the previous Zoll X Series, which is currently being used on just about every ambulance in the state, to identify and monitor heart illnesses.
“New technology is always emerging,” says Fairfield County EMS Director Tim Martin. “In the world of EMS, appropriately using the new technology of the LP35 system allows us to make better clinical decisions.”
Technology that gives more insight into what the heart is doing will result in better clinical outcomes, Martin says. This new technology gives the STJ insight – a graphical view of the area of the heart that is being affected by a heart attack.
“In addition to having this newer technology, we can also livestream the monitor to a remote desktop,” Martin says. “This technology can be shared with other healthcare providers in real-time, giving additional sets of eyes on a critical patient for better clinical decision making.”
Fairfield County EMS will be the First 911 First Responder EMS unit in the state to institute this new technology into all of its ambulance fleet.
This technology is especially valuable in rural communities, providing not only real-time information on the status of the patient, but extensive readings that will help medical professionals better identify the true extent of the incoming patient’s trauma.
