BLYTHEWOOD – In their first and final home meet of the 2024 season, Blythewood’s cross country team swept the field and celebrated its senior runners.

Blythewood’s boys and girls teams took first place. The Bengal boys finished on top of the field of five teams with 15 points. AC Flora finished second with 43 points. Blythewood’s girls took first place out of four teams with 24 points. AC Flora’s 34 points put them in second.

The Bengal boys had six top-10 finishers out of 87 runners. Jacob Powell finished at the 16.35.3 mark for first place on the day. Dillan Boyer came in second at 16:58.3 and Eureka Washington followed on his heels at the 16:58.4 mark. Anthony Knight finished fourth at 17:16.10. Matthew Geddes placed fifth at 17:34.20 to round out the team scores. Austin Dwiggins came in ninth at 17:45.

Blythewood runners Sean Gibbons (17:50.50), Johnathon Lenker (17:53.40), Jack Smith (18:46.50), Emerson Hill (19.01.80), Christopher O’Berry (19:50.50) and Aiden Moon (19:59.30) all finished under the 20 minute mark. Geddes, Dwiggins, Gibbons, Lenker, and Hill had their fastest times of the season.

Blythewood’s girls swept the top three spots out of 71 runners. Senior Mallorie Hogue took first place on the day at 18:38.40, her fastest time of the season. Anna Kelly followed at 18:52.20, and Scarlett Baker finished in third with her season-best time of 20:42.90. Paige Kelly took fifth place at the 21:00.70 mark, her fastest time of the season. Judeah Warren finished at 22:30.30, her season-best.

Blythewood will run in the Region 5-5A Championship across town at Westwood High School on Nov. 6.
