Mavericks VB takes on region

Still in relative infancy with only a handful of seasons under its belt, Midlands STEM Charter School’s volleyball program is improving.

Though their record may not reflect it, the Mavericks are battling their way through the SCHSL’s A Region 3.

After a 3-0 loss to Lewisville (6-0) to open the season on Aug. 26, the Mavericks dropped a 3-0 game to the Governor’s School for Science & Math (5-1) on Aug. 27. They fell 3-0 again to McBee High School (4-2) on Aug. 29.

The Mavericks found their biggest success of the young season in their Sept. 3 game against Lamar High School. They lost a 25-20 set one final, then dropped the next two 25-16 and 25-16, some of their closest margins of the season.

Midlands STEM will travel to Great Falls on Sept. 17 and for a rematch with Lewisville on Sept. 19. Both games are set to start at 6 p.m.
