WINNSBORO – Fairfield Central volleyball hosted Lower Richland on Monday to open regular season play. The Griffins battled to take a 3-1 win over the Diamond Hornets.
Fairfield went 0-2 in preseason, falling 2-0 to Laurens Academy, recent two-time SCISA 1A State Champion. They dropped a second preseason match to Strom Thurmond with 25-13 and 25-18 finals.
Fairfield will travel to Lower Richland tonight for a rematch, then will host Richland Northeast on Sept. 4.
