Gale and Carol Coston of Ashley Oaks had two reasons to celebrate this week. They were married for 45 years on Sunday, Aug. 4, and Gale is celebrating his 87th birthday on Thursday, Aug. 8.
Both have served the community in many ways over the years, not the least of which was their service to the town government. Gale was a founding member of the Blythewood Architectural Review Board and served as chairman for several years. Carol served on the Accommodations Tax Board as well as on the Board of the Blythewood Historical Society.
Both are retired from the University of South Carolina where they were professors in the Department of Speech Pathology. The couple has four children.
