WINNSBORO – Members of the Fairfield Farmer’s and Artisan’s Market were recently notified that their market is the third best in South Carolina.
The annual competition for state, regional, and national winners has been hosted for the last 16 years by the American Farmland Trust. The contest ran June 1 thru July 31.
The other top placement markets in the state were: Travelers Rest (1st), Kershaw (2nd), and Blythewood (4th). Winners are chosen through popular vote.
During the summer, more than 1,500 markets nationwide participated with over 97,000 votes cast.
The Fairfield Market is made up of 37 vendors not including holiday and daily vendors.
“The market has been around since 2012, and operating out of the market building since 2019 when it was refurbished for the market vendors,” said the market’s Executive Director Jamie Vaine. The current board has been in place since 2022.
The market is open from 9 – 12 most Saturdays. It will be closed, however, on Aug. 31 and Sept. 7. It will reopen on Saturday, Sept. 14
