Boyd is AAU Junior Olympic Gold Medalist

GREENSBORO, NC – Jayden Boyd wrapped up his summer with new hardware.

Boyd took first in long jump.

Boyd, a junior at Fairfield Central High School who competes with Team Blaze, an AAU track and field team out of Columbia, made a name for himself at the AAU Junior Olympic Games July 27 – Aug. 3.

Boyd claimed two gold medals in the boys’ 15-16 division – first in long jump at 7.11m and first in the 100 meter dash at 10.61 seconds, a new personal best. Boyd’s personal record in long jump was set in the qualifier at AAU Regional at 7.2m.

Boyd also ran in the 4×100 team relay. The team finished in fifth place at 32.14 seconds.

Boyd is a three-time state champion for Fairfield Central. Last season, he claimed individual state titles in the 100m dash (10.51), 200meter dash (21.34) and long jump (6.95m) as a sophomore.

Boyd and the Griffins also claimed the AA State Championship title during the 2024 season.
