BLYTHEWOOD – The Town of Blythewood has a big bash planned in Doko Park for this year’s Independence Day celebration. It’s the family-fun Rockin’ Red White & Blue festival.
“It’s going to happen on Wednesday, July 3 this year,” Mayor Sloan Griffin announced. “And it’s going to be big, with music, fireworks and lots of food trucks.”
On stage beginning at about 6 p.m., the Blue Dogs band out of Charleston will perform.
There will be 15 or 20 food vendors with a variety of different kinds of entrees, desserts, cold drinks and beer.
“So come out and enjoy the fun, food and music, and visit with your friends and neighbors. Enjoy Blythewood! We ask that everyone bring their lawn chairs and pallets for the kids, but no coolers,” Griffin said.
Then at dusk – about 9:30 p.m. – a fireworks display will light up the night sky over the park.
Parking on hard surfaces in the park will be limited to handicap, vendor and staff parking. All general parking will be located in the field behind town hall and across Sandfield Road. Vehicles will enter through the gate at the corner of Sandfield Road and Langford Road.
Parking and driving will be strictly prohibited on a portion of McLean Road from 4 – 10 p.m. Signs will be posted.
