COLUMBIA – Fairfield Central’s boys track and field team is peaking at the right time. As the Upper State and State Championship meets loom in the coming days, the Griffins have already claimed one title: Region Champions.
Fairfield Central’s boys took first place with a team score of 205, beating out Keenan (172), Gray Collegiate (93), Columbia (63) and Eau Claire (8) during the SCHSL 2A Region 4 meet at Keenan High School on April 30.
Jayden Boyd and Hank White each had three place finishes on the day. Boyd finished first in 100m dash (10.61), 200m dash (21.43) and long jump (6.58). White finished first in the 800m run (2:04.59), 1600m run (4:50.20) and 3200m run (11:23.47). Jalen Swilley finished first in shot put at 14.28.

The Griffin girls finished fourth. Senior Sharmelle Holmes had top finishes in 100m dash (11.66), 200m dash (23.67), and long jump (5.8m). Katriel Moore finished second in 400m dash (1:01.03) and Natalie Mickle finished third in discus (20.89).
