WINNSBORO – The top of the podium isn’t a strange place for Fairfield Central’s athletes.
The Griffin boys’ track and field team claimed that spot on Tuesday at the SCHSL 2A Region 4 meet with a team score of 205. Keenan finished in second at 172.
Jayden Boyd and Hank White each had three place finishes on the day. Boyd finsihed first in 100m dash (10.61), 200m dash (21.43) and long jump (6.58). White finished first in the 800m run (2:04.59), 1600m run (4:50.20) and 3200m run (11:23.47). Jalen Swilley finished first in shot put at 14.28.
Other top-three finishes came from Tydarion Grier (2nd 100m dash,10.66; 2nd long jump 6.5m); Jamie Brown (3rd 400m dash, 52.00); Derek Cammon (2nd 800m run, 2:06.89); Krishi Patel (2nd 3200m run, 12:34.97); Christian hingleton (3rd 100m hurdles, 16.74); Marlon Smith (3rd 40m hurdles, 1:03.59); Kristian Golden (3rd high jump, 1.78m); Antario James (2nd triple jump, 12.52m); Jalen Swilley (2nd discus, 26.57m); Chancery Turner (3rd javelin, 32.15m).
The Griffin girls finished fourth. Senior Sharmelle Holmes had top finishes in 100m dash (11.66), 200m dash (23.67), and long jump (5.8m). Katriel Moore finished second in 400m dash (1:01.03) and Natalie Mickle finished third in discus (20.89).
