Celebrating the champs

WINNSBORO – A Congress Street parade in downtown Winnsboro on Tuesday honoring the state championship Fairfield Central High School boys’ track and field team was short but very sweet.

Parked cars and pickup trucks lined the street through downtown as a good number of friends, family and neighbors turned out to cheer on the young athletes on the two floats – first the girl’s track and field team that finished third in the 2A state tournament, then the 2A State Championship FCHS boys track and field team.

The boys donned white t-shirts with a photo of the team emblazoned on the front. After the parade, some strolled Congress Street visiting with and thanking those who had come to honor them.
