COLUMBIA – Blythewood and Westwood participated in their respective region track and field meets on Wednesday, but results were not available by The Voice’s press deadline.
Both schools participated in the Richland County Championships on April 24. Blythewood’s girls’ team finished in first place with a score of 173. Westwood’s girls tied Hammond School for fourth place with 57 points.
Blythewood’s boys finished third with a score of 84.33, and Westwood’s boys finished on their heels in fourth with 84.
Blythewood girls had a handful of first place finishers: Olivia Taylor (25.04 in 200m dash and 57.06 in 400m dash), Anna Kelly (11:23.05 season best time in 3200m run), Aminah Rhone (14.48 season best time in 100m hurdles), Dara Bolt (10.99m in triple jump).
Deangelo Brooks (10.72 season best in 100m dash) and Jacob Powell (9:40.36 in 3200m run) took first place in their events for the Bengal Boys. Blythewood’s 4×100 relay team also took first.
Harper Ramsdale had a top finish in Pole Vault (3.05m) for the Redhawk girls’ team.
Westwood’s Zion Brown (1.93m in high jump), Chase Simmons (13.76m in triple jump) and the 4x400m relay team also had first place finishes.
