COLUMBIA – Blythewood girls track and field surges forward as the postseason continues, taking home seven first place finishes at the Region 3-5A meet last week. The team also had eleven athletes pull season-best performances.
Aminah Rhone finished first in 100m hurdles at 14.74 and in 400m hurdles at 1:03.31. Rhone also had a season-best time in the 200m dash for third place. Anna Kelly took first in the 3200m run with her season-best time of 11:20.65. Peyton Hightower finished first in the 400m dash. Dara Bolt claimed first place in triple jump at 11.47m; she also had a season-best finish in 100m hurdles at 15.55 for third place.
The Bengal girls relay 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams also took first place with 3:58.81 and 10:24.41 times respectively.
Other top finishers were:
- Olivia Taylor: 2nd place 100m dash 12.11 (SB); 2nd place 400m dash 57.42; 5th place 200m dash 25.19; 6th place long jump 5.09m
- Patience Lisbon: 2nd 100m hurdles 15.27; 4th place 400m hurdles 1:06.09
- Zion Harvey: 2nd place long jump 5.28m
- Aniya Fluker: 2nd place shot put 10.82m
- Mallorie Hogue: 3rd place 800m run 2:20.78 (SB)
- Madison Brown: 4rd place discus 30.8m
- Hayley Hightower: 4th place 800m run 2:23.98
- Zion Harvey: 5th place 100m dash 12.38
- Madison Ross: 5th place 400m hurdles 1:06.79 (SB)
- Alexis Jones: 5th place high jump 1.42
- Romell Garway: 5th place triple jump 10.48m
Paris Javis (13.11 in 100m dash), Cailyn Dawson (1:02.31 in 400m dash), Jurnee Warren (2:36.01 in 800m run), Gabrielle Jarvis (2:36.98 in 800m run), Alayna Young (12.98m in javelin) recorded their season-high scores at the meet.
Blythewood’s boys had a strong showing at the meet. Dylan Horne, Santana Wright and Graysen Manning had the team’s first place finishes.
Manning took first in the 1600 meter run with his season-fastest time of 4:32.00. Wright’s 47.53 meter throw was best in discus. Horne finished first in shot put at 15.07 meters.

- Omari Hendrix: 4th place 400m hurdles 59.78
- Tyler Davis: 4th place discus 43.92
The Bengal boys’ 4×100 meter relay team had a second place finish with a season-best time of 42.05.
Both Blythewood teams advance to the 5A Upper State Championship meet, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Byrnes High School.
The 5A State Championship meet will be held at Spring Valley on Friday, May 17, when the Bengal girls look to defend their 2023 state title.
