Bengals softball opened playoffs Wednesday

BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood softball team (15-4) scored four runs in the third inning and four more runs in the fifth inning to beat Mid-Carolina 11-9 April 24 in the final game of the regular season.

Lily Zell pitched five innings to get the win, and had ample run support. Gabby Cook went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and Josie Smythe, Ashley Duncan and Molly Wolf had two hits apiece. Smythe also had three RBI.

The Bengals played at Hillcrest Wednesday in the District 4 Tournament.

They will play either Byrnes or Spartanburg on Friday in the double-elimination format tournament.
