BLYTHEWOOD – The Westwood softball team fell 10-2 at steady-hitting Irmo Thursday, but traveled to River Bluff Friday and crushed the Gators 15-3 in five innings Friday. Redhawks fell to 12-11 to Airport Monday.
Yellow Jackets winning pitcher Lyrical Bennett 2-hit the Redhawks (9-10, 2-5 Region 5-4A), while at the plate Bennett hit a 2-run home run. Meahure Lewis went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI and Precious Bross went 3-for-4 with two doubles.
The next day Annarea Wilson was in the circle for Westwood and 3-hit the Gators over five innings, striking out nine. Anna Graves went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBI. Jada McConnell and Parker Horton each had had three hits including a double. Taylor Blevens doubled and drove in three runs, and Makaylah Drakeford batted in two.
Against Airport, Marguerite Ridgeway went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI. Makaylah Drakeford also had three hits, including a home run. McConnell went 2-for-3 with a double.
The Redhawks, in fourth place in the region, played at Lugoff-Elgin Wednesday to close out region play.
