COLUMBIA – Fairfield Central’s track and field team competed in the Blazer Twilight Invitational at Ridge View High School on March 29.
Competing with 29 public, private and charter schools of all sizes, the Griffin boys finished in sixth place and the girls finished in 14th.
Griffin Boys
Jayden Boyd was a bright spot for the Griffins on the day. He had two first-place finishes. In the 100m dash, Boyd finished first with a time of 10.69. He had his season-fastest time in the 300m dash at 35.18 for a first place finish.
Hank White had his season-best time in the 1500m run at 4:17.34 for fourth place.
Tydarion Grier had his season-best finish in the 100m dash at 10:78 for fifth place.
Other season-bests were Jamie Brown (7th place in 300m at 36.86); Kristian Golden (5.91m in long jump); Marion Smith (1:05.11 in 110m hurdles); Chaze Hemphill (11:50.61 in 3000m run; Jamari Johnson (12:08.70 in 3000m run) and Derek Cammon (40.52 in 300m dash). The boys’ 4x200m relay team also had their season-best finish at 1:37.67.
Griffin Girls
Fairfield’s Sharmelle Holmes, a University of Kentucky commit, placed first in the girls’ 100m dash with her season-best time of 11.72.
Katriel Moore (43.63 in 300m dash) and Essence Terry-London (12.85 in 100m dash also had their season-best times.
The Griffins competed at Dreher on Wednesday, but results were not available by The Voice’s press deadline. They will return to Ridge View for a meet with the Blazers and CA Johnson on April 17.
