BLYTHEWOOD – Longtime Blythewood resident Nettie Benson turned 90 on Feb. 10 in high style in the ballroom of the Hilton Garden Inn in Columbia.
The party, planned by her family, including her sons Larry Griffin and Ethan Benson, kicked off when Nettie Benson was chauffeured to the door of the hotel for a photo-op meet-and-greet with approximately 120 guests.
Her granddaughter, Dr. Jennifer Frazier, emceed the party that included a Trivia game about Benson’s life, reflections and remembrances, and a roast beef and baked chicken dinner with all the trimmings.
Blythewood Mayor Sloan Griffin read a proclamation honoring Benson.
After dinner, Benson’s son Ethan introduced his mother who delivered remarks. Benson’s other son, Larry Griffin was unable to attend because of illness.
Besides her two sons, Nettie Benson has three grandchildren and two great grandsons.
