WINNSBORO – 40 runs in five at-bats – that’s how Tuesday’s double-header against Columbia High School went for Fairfield as the Griffins dominated with 21-0 and 19-0 final scores.
Nygel Woodard went 4-4 in the three-inning stretch that was game one against Columbia. The Griffins put up 14 runs in the third inning with five singles, a triple and two doubles.
Tyon Belton threw for the three-inning game. He faced nine batters, struck out eight, and allowed one hit.
Fairfield scored 14 runs in the first inning of game two. The Griffins put up 5 more runs in the second. The game ended after 2.5 innings at 19-0.
Graeme Douglas got the game 2 win. He faced 12 batters, struck out nine, allowed one hit and walked one.
The Griffins will travel to Newberry tonight for a 7 p.m. game. They’ll host Westwood March 29 at 7 p.m.
