COLUMBIA – The Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic was another big day for local track and field stars.
The meet is one of the biggest area meets of the season as it saw athletes from 29 Midlands-area schools, both public and private.
Blythewood Girls
Aminah Rhone finished first with a season-fastest time in 100m hurdles at 14.71. She also pulled top finishes in the 400m hurdles (1:04.91). Olivia Taylor finished first in 400m dash at 57.36 and set a new person best in long jump with a fourth place finish at 5.09m.
Dara Bolt finished first in triple jump at 10.97.
Two of Blythewood girls’ relay teams took first place. The 4×100 relay team finished at 47.58, and the 4×400 relay team finished at 3:59.74.
Zion Harvey took second place in 200m dash (25.75) and long jump (5.17) and fourth place in the 100m dash (12.43). Haley Hightower finished second in 800m run at 2:19.80. Anna Kelly finished second in the 3200m run at 11:46.87. Patience Lisbon’s second place finish in 100m hurdles was her season-best time at 15.24. Lisbon also finished third in 400m hurdles at 1:07.21.
Other top-five finishers for the Bengal girls were Peyton Hightower (3rd place in 400m dash at 58.55); Romell Garway (3rd place in triple jump at 10.51m); Mallorie Hogue (4th place in 800m run at 2:24.52); Madison Ross (4th place in 400m hurdles at 1:07.51); Keaundrea Bateman (5th place in javelin at 26.67); and Aniya Fluker, whose 5th place finish was her season best in shot put at 9.92m.
Brittany Benson (12.62 in 100m dash), Judeah Warren (6:18.05 in 1600m run), Kyleigh Von Plinsky (6:42.55 in 1600m run), Hannah Hardee (1.37m in high jump), Madison Brown (28.25m in discus), and Alayna Young (14.33m in javelin) had their season-best scores.
Blythewood Boys
Blythewood’s boys team had three top finishers on the day.
Jacob Powell set a new school record with his first place finish in the 3200m run with at time of 9:27.18. Powell also finished third in the 1600m run with his season-fastest 4:28.29.
Deangelo Brooks set a new personal-best time in the 200m dash at 21.84 en route to his first place finish. Brooks also had a season-best time in the 100m dash. He finished at 10.81 for second place. Tyler Davis placed first in javelin at 42.98m.
Santana Wright had a second place finish in discus at 46.27m.
Blythewood’s 4×800 meter relay team finished second place with their season-best time (8:30.42). The 4×400 meter relay team also had their season-fastest time at 3:32.80. They finished in third place. The 4×100 meter relay team placed fourth at 43.29.
Other top-five finishers for the Bengal boys were Greysen Manning (3rd place in 800m run at 1:59.94, his season-best); Dylan Horne (3rd place in shot put at 14.03); Harrison Knight (3rd place in discus at 44.39m); and Spencer Shealy (4th place in 1600m run at 4:30.66).
Jayveon James (17.70 in 110m hurdles and 5.09m in long jump), Zaki Bushiri (1:04.59 in 400m hurdles), Mitchell Hepler (1.7m in high jump), and Christopher O’Berry (2:11.54 in 800m run) finished with their season-best scores.
Westwood Girls
Westwood senior standout Emma Ashley’s first place finish in the 1600m run set a new school record at 5:10.31. Ashley also finished sixth place in the 800m run with her season-best time of 2:27.24.
Harper Ramsdale had the Redhawk girls only other top finish on the day. She pulled first place in pole vault at 3.05m.
Jaslyn Simpkins finished third in shot put at 10.35m. Westwood’s 4x800m relay team placed third at 10:17.53.
Westwood’s girls had a handful of season-fastest times: Ayanna Aarons (26.74 in 200m dash), Thanna Davis (1:02.08 in 400m dash), Jamiya Carter (2:38.10 in 800m run), Christina Tyndall (5:50.20 in 1600m run), Abigail Forrest (14:33.98 in 3200m run), Malaika Green (19.57 in 100m hurdles), and Ja’Miah Samuel (1:14.44 in 400m hurdles).
Westwood Boys
Westwood’s 4x400m relay team had the boys’ only top finish on the day. They finished in first with a time of 3:25.09.
Christian Banks finished third place in 400m hurdles with a time of 57.13, his season fastest. Zion Brown placed third in high jump at 1.85m. Chase Simmons finished third in triple jump at 13.4m, and Ivory Thigpen placed fourth in triple jump at 12.73m.
Westwood had eleven additional athletes who recorded their season-best performances at the meet: Titan Verrett (2:05.35 in 800m run), Jayden Wilson (11.49 in 100m dash); Cameron Bennett (11.58 in 100m dash), Demari Clark (52.55 in 400m dash), Dominick Young (53.32 in 400m dash), Jaydon Johnson (2.27.34 in 800m run), Sean Bullock (5:12.58 in 1600m run and 11:19.62 in 3200m run), Bryce Washington (11:37.69 in 3200m run), Dovonte Armstrong (1:04.54 in 400m hurdles), Kashon Harrison (5.67m in long jump) and Christian Rhoden (30.73m in discus).

Westwood was set to compete at White Knoll on Wednesday, but weather conditions forced the meet to be canceled.
Both Blythewood and Westwood will have athletes compete in the Archer Invitational in Lawrenceville, GA on Friday. Blythewood is also has athletes registered to compete in the Blazer Twilight Invitational in Columbia on Friday.
Westwood will compete in the Beach Run Invitational at Myrtle Beach on Friday, April 5.
Blythewood is registered for the Golden Corner Invitational in Seneca on Saturday, April 6; they’ll follow that with the Gail Devers Invitational in Lawrenceville, GA on April 13.
