BLYTHEWOOD – The Blythewood baseball team rallied for a 10-9 victory at Nation Ford Monday night at Bengals Park.
Blythewood (6-3) got the game tying and go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Amare Counts led off the bottom of the sixth with a double. His courtesy Runner Porter Rummel moved to third on Alex Myers’ bunt to the pitcher that was scored as a fielders’ choice. Myers was safe at first.
Rummel scored the tying run off Sammy Franklin’s sacrifice bunt that wound up as an error when Nation Ford first baseman Jake Barrier misfielded it.
With the game tied at nine with one out, Myers stood at second and Franklin at first. Myers moved to third and scored the go-ahead run on Penfield’s lined single to left.
Macon Leppert hit into a double play and Harrison Collins struck out to end the inning, but the Bengals scored the only two runs they needed.
Jackson Bottar struck out two Falcons in the sixth and got Justin Brink to ground out and end the game in the win column.
Blythewood played at Nation Ford Wednesday, but scores were not available by The Voice’s press deadline. They host the Falcons again Friday.
