Bengals take third at Ladies Winter Classic

GREENVILLE – Closing in on the Upper State Championships, Blythewood’s women’s wrestling team, ranked No.1 in the state, had a tough go in the Ladies Winter Classic at Wade Hampton High School over the weekend.

Seven Bengal wrestlers finished in sixth place or higher en route to their third place finish at the tournament.

Tiyanna Mack took first place at 132 lbs. Abby Burns placed second at 120 lbs. Brianna Shepard finished third at 137 lbs. Keundrea Bateman (125 lbs) and Abby Ely (172 lbs) both had fourth place finishes. Liz Veguilla took fifth place at 125 lbs, and Audra Petroff claimed sixth at 155 lbs.

The Bengals look ahead to post-season, where they will face many of the same wrestlers they saw at the Winter Classic.
