HOPKINS – Fairfield Central took to Lower Richland on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup. Both teams fell to the Diamond Hornets.
The Griffin girls opened the night with a good first quarter. They trailed 17-15 when the second quarter began, but the Diamond Hornets took charge from there. Lower Richland put up 25 more points before the half and held Fairfield Central to only nine.
Fairfield (1-3) came on stronger in the third quarter, but only managed one point in the fourth before ending with a 67-36 final.
The Griffin boys followed with a 48-25 loss to the Diamond Hornets, dropping them to 0-4 in the early season.
Fairfield is set to host Newberry tonight. Girls tip off at 6:30 and the boys will follow at 8 p.m.
